Treatments For Back Acne

Written on Announcement – 4:51 am | by admin |

While the range of treatments for back acne are practically the same as those for facial acne, several anatomical differences make treating back acne more difficult. To better understand the significance of these differences it makes sense to first cover how acne forms.

Ineffective Treatments For Back Acne Make You See Red???

Without getting too technical one major cause of acne is an excessive production of oil (called “sebum”) in the skin and/or an inability for your skin to properly flush out this oil. In either case a build-up of excess sebum forms.

Now whenever you get a collection of fluid on your skin it’s not long before bacteria infect the area. And whenever you get infection you get inflammation… which is what ultimately gives acne its red and swollen appearance.

What’s important to understand is that acne originates from processes going on within the body… and not from external factors like poor hygiene! However, external factors can have an impact on the severity and persistence of acne.

What this means for treating back acne is anything that increases your sebum production, inhibits the flushing away of sebum or increases the number of bacteria that infect stagnant sebum will lessen your chances of successfully curing back acne.

Such factors that can potentially reduce the success of back acne treatments include:

1. Clothing

2. Back Hair

3. Thicker Skin

4. Difficulty To Clean

5. Difficulty To Apply Acne Creams

Now depending on the presence or absence of these acne-aggravating factors, along with the severity of the back acne and the skin type, the response to various treatments for back acne will vary from person to person. In a nutshell… there is no one sure-cure treatment for back acne.

This then leaves us having to trial and error various combinations of available treatments until we find a combination that works for us. In an effort to simplify your exploration for a back acne cure this website has been created to objectively review the available treatments for back acne and in turn empower you to make informed choices.

In essence there are six broad modalities for treating back acne…

1. Preventive measures for back acne

2. Home remedies for back acne

3. Over the counter acne products

4. Light-based therapies for back acne

5. Prescribed pharmaceuticals

6. Exotic therapies

No matter how mild or severe your back acne, a sensible approach to treating back acne would be to implement fundamental preventive measures along with widely successful home remedies for back acne. If these fail to cure your back acne then the next step would be to apply over the counter active anti-acne creams (like 5% benzoyl peroxide) followed by non-invasive light therapies. If all of these fail to eliminate your back acne then you should definitely consult a dermatologist for more aggressive pharmaceuticals. And as a desparate last resort you may finally experiment with exotic therapies.

Of all the home remedies for treating back acne one stands head and shoulders above the rest. If you’re just starting out on your “cure back acne” journey or you’re at your wits end looking for that elusive cure you simply must check out this ultimate “treatments for back acne” report!

Can Botox Cure Back Acne OR Does It Actually Flare Up Back Acne?

Written on September 10, 2008 – 6:12 pm | by admin |

In a fascinating Chicago Sun-Times article published this week (talking about the 7 big trends in cosmetic medicine / surgery) one doctor put forward an interesting theroy. According to Dr. Streven Dayan botox can actually clear up acne. He’s currently conducting clinical trials to validate his clinical observations.

As this could hold enourmous value for back acne sufferers I thought I’d hunt out some more information on the topic.

First up, I came across an article in the February 2008 issue of Elle magzine, which reported that dermatologists have been noticing that patients have clearer skin in areas where Botox has been injected. In fact, according to one dermatologist interviewed, “Skin is noticeably clearer in Botox-treated areas.”

The article went on to hypothesize that with the relaxation of facial muscles that occurs with botox, “relaxed ducts don’t continually pump out sebum.” The anatomical fact that skin ducts / pores have absolutely no muscle fibres in them whatsoever makes this claim ludicrous!

However, another more plausable theory suggests that botox blocks a key neurotransmitter in oil manufacture and thereby reduces sebum production.

All sounds good in theory… until you read these testimonials to the contrary. It appears that the manufacturer of botox is aware of a link that implicates its product with the exaccerbation of acne yet they are unwilling to comment further instead opting to pass the buck on to your GP.

So for now I’m happy to stay away from pumping my back full of Botox and will stick to my tried and tested array of treaments for back acne.

Written on August 25, 2008 – 4:41 am | by admin |

There’s a growing body of evidence that low grade chronic inflammation is the actual trigger for pores to get blocked with sebum and exfoliated skin. So what causes this chronic inflammation?

In a nutshell, foods that are rapidly broken down in to sugars. The rational behind this is that such foods cause a rapid increase in insulin levels which in turn sparks a burst of inflammation at a cellular level.

Hence, diet is intimately linked to the onset and persistence of back acne.

With this in mind here are 20 pro-inflammatory foods that you must avoid

  1. Carbonated (fizzy) drinks
  2. Snack foods
  3. Candy
  4. Cake
  5. Doughnuts
  6. Cookies
  7. Fried food
  8. Fruit juice
  9. White bread
  10. Margarine
  11. Pastry
  12. Jam
  13. Granola
  14. Crackers
  15. Noodles
  16. Bagels
  17. Pudding
